There are a limited number of spaces in the program and a waiting list may be imminent. You will be contact if you are placed on the waiting list. Please return the signed contract and $100 non-refundable deposit to the Office of Admissions as soon as possible. Note: you must be given "Summer EIP mandatory" status before you can reserve your space in EIP.
Eagle Incentive Program – A program offered during the summer for students provisionally accepted for fall admission to prove their success by taking seven credit hours and earning a “C” or better cumulative average on all courses attempted. The Academic Courses – Two three-hour academic courses and a one-hour GSU 1210 orientation course will be taken. These courses will count toward graduation. The Professors – The professors will be hand-selected from among the best professors at Georgia Southern University. These professors have a proven track-record of successful teaching and student-centeredness. Dates of the Program – June 23 – July 24, Move-In to the residence hall on June 19, with SOAR (orientation) on June 20-21, and Conversations with Professors on June 22 at 3:30 PM (more details to be given at Orientation). If you need to change your major, please do so prior to SOAR. Please use this link to update your major: http://admissions.georgiasouthern.edu/major_update.htm. Reserve a Space in EIP – Return the student contract, along with the non-refundable $100 deposit, as soon as possible to reserve a space in the Eagle Incentive Program. Reservations will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note: in order to reserve a space in the Eagle Incentive Program, you must first be given "Summer EIP mandatory" status. An invitation to SOAR, information about Housing, Financial Aid facts, and fee payment information will be mailed to you as confirmation of your reservation in the Eagle Incentive Program. SOAR (orientation) – Attendance at Southern’s Orientation, Advisement, and Registration (SOAR) on June 20-21 is a requirement for all new students at Georgia Southern University. You will receive information about signing-up for SOAR after you reserve your space in the Eagle Incentive Program. There is an additional fee for students and parents attending SOAR. Financial Aid and HOPE Scholarship - If you want to be reviewed for summer financial aid, which includes the Georgia HOPE Scholarship, you must complete the appropriate paperwork in a timely manner. You should complete the 2007-2008 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), found online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you ONLY want to be reviewed for HOPE, you should complete the GSFAPP application available at www.gacollege411.org. Please note: For fall 2008 financial aid, you must complete the 2008-2009 FAFSA. More information about financial aid will be forwarded to you once you have reserved your space in the Eagle Incentive Program. What if I retake the SAT/ACT – If you retake the SAT or ACT and earn a higher score (minimum requirement for fall admission – 1000 SAT, 21 ACT), send the scores to Georgia Southern University, and contact your Admissions Counselor to review your application for admission for fall semester. If you are accepted for fall semester, your $100 deposit for EIP will be applied to your fall semester tuition. |
1. Minimum 920-990 SAT Students are not eligible to participate in the Eagle Incentive Program (EIP), if they have earned any transferable college credits including those credits earned jointly while in high school. This does not include Advance Placement courses. You can be eligible for admission as a transfer student once you complete 30 transferable semester hours or 45 quarterly hours beyond any remedial or learning support courses, a 2.0 GPA (all attempted work), and are eligible to return to current school.
