Follow the steps below to research our academic programs, apply for graduate admission, and obtain an I-20 form. Research academic programs and costsGeorgia Southern offers over 40 graduate programs in seven academic colleges. Please visit http://cogs.georgiasouthern.edu/programsofstudy.html for information about graduate programs and departments. Students must have sufficient financial resources to study at Georgia Southern. International students must document available funds to cover at least one year’s educational and living expenses, estimated to be around $26,000. International graduate students are allowed to apply for graduate assistantships. A limited number of scholarships are awarded to international graduate students. Apply for admissionApplication and Fee. Apply online or download the international admissions application, by visiting this link. The application fee of $50 (US) can be paid by credit card (MasterCard or Visa), by an electronic check drawn on a U.S. bank, or with a bank draft, payable in U.S. dollars to Georgia Southern University. Applications will not be processed without the application fee. Academic Transcripts. Request two official academic transcripts and certificates/diplomas from all colleges and universities attended. Academic records must have a seal or an original signature. Photocopies are acceptable if they are noted as “Certified True Copy” and signed by a school official. If your records are not in English, you must include a certified English translation of all documents. Have your college send one copy of your official academic records to Georgia Southern and the additional copy to a professional evaluation agency as noted below. Credential Evaluation. All international transcripts must be evaluated by a professional evaluation agency. We recommend you use the World Education Services (WES). Visit http://www.wes.org/ to view which documents are required for your country and to request a Course-by-Course Report (cost $150). Identify Georgia Southern University as a receiving institution at the time of application with WES: Georgia Southern University, Office of Admissions, PO Box 8024, Statesboro, GA 30460. TOEFL Exam. Students whose first language is not English and who have not studied exclusively in English must submit official TOEFL scores to Georgia Southern. For admission, we require TOEFL scores of at least 79 internet-based, 213 computer-based or 550 paper-based. TOEFL scores must be sent directly from the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to Georgia Southern University. Supplementary Documents. Other documents, including official test scores, as required by the department, college, or program should be sent to the Office of Admissions at Georgia Southern University. Test scores must be current, within the last five years, and sent directly from the testing agency. Required supplementary documents may include letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, and/or a resume. Apply for an I-20 formIn order to apply for a student visa, you will need an I-20 or DS-2019 form issued to you by the Center for International Studies at Georgia Southern University. To initiate this process, please complete the SEVIS Data Form and provide a bank statement showing you have sufficient funds to pay for at least one-year’s educational and living expenses. The Sevis Data Form and the original bank statement should be mailed to the Office of Admissions at the address provided on the Sevis Data Form.
