The Overall Experience of Being a SOAR Leader |
-I don’t know how to explain how amazing this experience has been, I get chills just thinking about it. I’ve gotten a confidence boost from it, and gotten to see how I can affect someone else’s life… and so much more.
-This has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I will never forget being a SOAR leader. In a sense, it has trained me for life - how to accept people for their differences, how to overcome obstacles in the workplace, and how to have fun being a professional.
-I wouldn’t trade it for anything!! I’m SOO GLAD I did it! The experiences I had are unique to the position - I wouldn’t have gotten these skills AND had this much FUN anywhere else!!
-I loved being a SOAR leader. It was a lot of work, but it was really a life-changing experience in which I know I impacted so many students. I am really thankful that I have been allowed the opportunity to do this and work with such great people, as well as meet some wonderful new students!

The Pay: $400 Spring stipend and $1800 Summer stipend |
-I didn’t care about the pay but more the feeling I got when a student sighed and just said “thank you…that really helped”. It’s the best feeling in the world!
- I hate to say this, but I would do this for free!
- It’s not a lot, but honestly, I had enough to pay my rent and bills for the summer. Students should not do this for the money.
-It wasn’t about the pay, but about the experience. Of course more money would be nice, but you gain so much more. Connections, friends, and memories that you will never forget.
-I know it wasn’t much, but the money plus the experience of a lifetime and all the free SOAR stuff; it was perfect.
