The Overall Experience of Being a SOAR Leader |
“This was one of the best and most rewarding jobs I could have done. I would
not have spent my summer any other way. The relationships, experiences,
and people made it awsome.”
“I had a great time being a SOAR Leader. I enjoy the feeling I get when a
student comes up to me now and tells me how helpful I was for them at
SOAR. I wish everyone could experience how that feels because it makes me
feel better as a person and increases my price in Georgia Southern.”
“One of the top experiences in my life...I’ve learned SO much about myself,
my leadership style, my interpersonal communication skills and just about
Georgia Southern in general.”
“I loved interacting with the students and families. I was able to experience
something that I will never have the opportunity to do again. I spent seven
months working with these people day in and day out, and can honestly say
that I know most of them better than people I’ve known for years. I am very
glad that I was a SOAR Leader and will draw from this experience for years to
come.” |
| The Pay: $400 Spring stipend and $1800 Summer stipend |
"I didn’t care about the pay but
more the feeling I got when a
student sighed and just said
“thank you…that really helped.” It’s
the best feeling in the world!”
“I hate to say this, but I would do
this for free!”
“I did not do this for the money,
I’m glad I got paid, I need the
money, but I would have done it
for less. This was a privilege!”
“It wasn’t about the pay, but about
the experience. Of course more
money would be nice, but you gain
so much more. Connections,
friends, and memories that you will
never forget.”
“I know it wasn’t much, but the money plus the experience of a lifetime and
all the free SOAR stuff; it was perfect.” |
