Summer Service Project
As you begin your experience at Georgia Southern University, you’ll find that we are a service-oriented community. Our students take pride in the opportunities we have to help others. At SOAR this summer, you have the opportunity to participate in our culture of giving back to our community and continue our tradition of service.
Books for Backpack Buddies
This summer, we are collecting new books for students Pre-K through 5th grade.
This program is sponsored by Backpack Buddies through the Altrusa Club of Statesboro. Books collected at the Armstrong campus will be distributed through Park Place Outreach, Inc.
In previous years, we have collected over 1,000 books– and we are hoping to beat that this year!
You may drop off your donation at check-in when you first arrive for your SOAR Session.
Examples of books to donate include:
- The Magic School Bus
- The Berenstain Bears
- Little Critter
- Book series – Junie B. Jones, Magic Tree House, A to Z Mysteries
All other age-appropriate books are welcome!
