Scholarship Events

Southern Scholars Showcase is a scholarship interview weekend for select students who score a minimum of 1360 on the Redesigned SAT* or 29 composite on the ACT and have a strong academic record in high school courses. Those invited to this event will interview for valuable academic scholarships. A select number of finalists who apply to the University Honors Program will interview for the 1906 Scholarship. The deadline to apply for consideration for Southern Scholars Showcase is November 1, 2017. Additional information regarding the events will be sent to selected students.


Scholars’ Day is a scholarship interview weekend for select students who score a minimum of 1270 on the Redesigned SAT* or a 27 composite on the ACT and have a strong academic record in high school courses. Those invited to this event will interview for academic scholarships. Select students will also be invited to interview for University Honors Program awards, the Southern Leaders Program and prestigious Southern Leaders Fellows awards. The deadline to apply for consideration for Scholars’ Day is February 1, 2018. Additional information regarding the events will be sent to selected students.


The Southern Leaders Conference & Interview Day is an interview and leadership education event for students applying for the Southern Leaders Program who have earned a minimum 3.0 GPA, a minimum 1170 Redesigned SAT* or 24 ACT composite, have outstanding leadership in high school, and leadership and involvement in the community through volunteer activities. Those invited to this event will interview for entrance into the Southern Leaders Program, with a select few also receiving the Southern Lead Scholarship. Attendees will also attend fun and educational sessions on leadership development. The deadline to apply for consideration for the Leadership Conference is February 1, 2018. Additional information regarding this event will be sent to eligible students.

*The required SAT scores are based on the Redesigned SAT (March 2016 forward), Evidence-Based Reading & Writing plus Math. Old SAT scores (pre-March 2016) will be accepted, if valid, and converted to Redesigned scores using conversion tables from the College Board. Call your Admissions Counselor if you have questions about score conversion.

 

Students must be accepted to the Georgia Southern University Statesboro campus and submit the MyScholarships application prior to these deadlines for consideration. Meeting the suggested requirements to be competitive does not guarantee an invitation to an interview weekend. All invited students will be contacted at least three weeks prior to each event.
