Eagle Preview Open House

Prospective and admitted students are invited to join the Office of Admissions for and Eagle Preview Open House. As our most comprehensive events, Eagle Previews give students the opportunity to talk one-on-one with representatives from all of our academic colleges and student services departments and the Office of Admissions. Numerous break-out sessions are offered on a wide variety of topics including Admissions, Housing, Financial Aid, Leadership and Community Engagement, and more! Tours of our residence halls, fitness center, and campuses are also offered as part of the event.

Open House check-in opens at 9:00 a.m. on the day of the event. A Welcome Session will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. It is encouraged that guests arrive prior to the Welcome Session to have time to speak with our academic, student services, and student organization representatives.

Transfer Visit Day

Learn more about what it’s like to #BeSouthern!

Prospective and admitted transfer students are invited to join the Office of Admissions for Transfer Visit Day. This event provides students and their guests with transfer-specific information in areas such as admissions, financial aid, housing, and student life on campus. Students will have the opportunity to meet with academic colleges to learn more about their intended major and the advisement process, take a campus tour with one of our Southern Ambassadors, and hear from a panel of current transfer students about their experiences at Georgia Southern.

Transfer Visit Day check-in opens at 12:00 p.m. for those guests who wish to take a campus tour prior to the Welcome Session starting at 1:00 p.m. Campus tours are also offered again once the event concludes at 4:00 p.m. All guests must arrive and check-in by 1:00 p.m. to be seated for the Welcome Session.

Dual Enrollment Information Sessions

The Dual Enrollment Program allows high-ability, self-directed high school students to challenge themselves through college coursework. Students can take a single course or enroll full-time, and some students graduate high school having earned as much as two years’ worth of college credits. More than 200 students from over 25 high schools in the state of Georgia participate in Dual Enrollment each semester at Georgia Southern University.

Dual Enrollment Information Sessions are held three times during the spring semester each year, and allow students interested in the program to learn more about the programs admission requirements and the application process. Students also have the chance to speak one-on-one with Georgia Southern’s Dual Enrollment representatives from the Office of Admissions and the First-Year Experience office.

Honors Information Sessions

Learn more about the Honors College at one of our honors information sessions. The Honors College seeks scholars interested in research, change agents interested in engaging local and global communities, and individuals seeking to explore their curiosity and express their creativity. The program provides an enhanced educational environment for bright and motivated students who seek a distinctive and challenging undergraduate experience. The program is designed as a “college within a college,” where students have access to smaller classes and enriching seminars and, at the same time, enjoy the opportunities provided by a large university.

Major-Specific Visits

The Office of Admissions partners with select academic colleges across campus each year to host College Visit Days. These events give prospective students the opportunity to learn more about the College’s majors and special programs, meet faculty members and current students, tour facilities, and take a campus tour.

When is the deadline to register for the event?
The deadline to register for each Open House is the Friday before each event at 12:00 p.m.

How do I register for the event?

Please visit our On-Campus Events and Off-Campus Events pages for more information about our events and to register. You can also register for an event by searching our Event Calendar and selecting the event you would like to attend. You will receive an automatic confirmation email upon registering for an event, and a reminder email two days prior to the event.

How do I cancel, reschedule, or modify my registration for the event?

Use our Event Calendar to search for the event that you are looking to make changes to. Select the event on the calendar and you will be redirected to the information page for the event. Click “login” in the top right corner of the page to log in to your events account. Once you’ve logged in, you can cancel, reschedule, or modify your registration for the event. If you have not received your username from the Office of Admissions, or have misplaced your username information, please contact the Office of Admissions at 912.478.5851 or visit@georgiasouthern.edu.

Can I register a group of students for the event?

Yes. School, community, and other groups are welcome to register students for an admissions special event. To register your students for the event, please call the Office of Admissions at 912.478.5851 or email us at visit@georgiasouthern.edu.

Are registrations capped for the event?
No. At this time, we do not cap registrations for Open House. All interested students, their family members, and friends are welcome to attend.

Is there a cost to attend the event?
No. Open House is a free event for all interested students, their family members, and friends.

What are the benefits of attending Open House?
Open House is a great way to experience all that Georgia Southern has to offer. You’ll get the information you need about our academic programs, student life, and admission requirements. You can take a campus tour, check out residence halls, and choose from several academic buildings to visit throughout campus. There are also opportunities to talk with professors about our 140+ degree programs.

How long is Open House?
Open House check-in opens at 9:00 a.m. on the day of the event. A Welcome Session will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. It is encouraged that guests arrive prior to the Welcome Session to have time to speak with our academic, student services, and student organization representatives. Open House break out sessions and campus tours will end by 2:00 p.m. Residence halls and the Recreation Activity Center will be open from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. for tours.

How is Open House structured?
Open House begins with check-in and registration, which is open from 9:00-10:00 a.m. After checking in, guests have the option to take a walking tour of campus, or check out our academic, student services, and student organization browses. At 10:00 a.m., a Welcome Session will take place for all guests in attendance. The remainder of the event (10:15 a.m.-2:00 p.m.) features a variety of break out sessions staggered throughout the morning so that students and their guests can attend the ones that interest them the most. Once all break-out session conclude at 2:00 p.m., there are several optional afternoon activities for you to take advantage of. This includes visiting residence halls and our recreation center, eating lunch at a dining hall, shopping at the University Store, or checking out the Center for Wildlife Education and Georgia Southern Museum (Statesboro Campus). You may also wish to attend a sporting event on campus, should one be taking place on the day of the event.

When should I expect to receive a confirmation email for an event?

You should receive a confirmation email from the Office of Admissions within five minutes of registering for an event. The email will be sent to the student’s email address, as entered on the event registration form.

What should I do if I do not receive a confirmation email for an event?

If you do not receive a confirmation from the Office of Admissions within five minutes of registering for an event, please give our office a call at 912.478.5851, or email us at visit@georgiasouthern.edu.

Where should I stay if I am traveling from out of town?
There are a number of hotels located within a short drive of campus. For a complete listing of hotels in the area, or for more information about the City of Statesboro and the surrounding area, please visit the Statesboro Visitor Bureau, or call 912.489.1869.

What should I wear?
We strongly encourage you to wear comfortable walking shoes and to dress appropriately for the forecasted weather. There are both indoor and outdoor components to our events, so you may wish to bring a light jacket or sweater to wear indoors, should the air conditioning be on high. No matter the weather, the Office of Admissions will set up water bottle stations for guests at specified times throughout each event.
