Why did you choose Georgia Southern?
I chose to attend Georgia Southern University because they offer a variety of degrees. They have always maintained a positive academic reputation. I’ve heard nothing but great things from friends that previously attended the University. There is so much Eagle pride and school spirit, the culture is everything I’ve ever wanted to be apart of. When I heard about the consolidation that would expand the school to Savannah, I was even more excited because I have always loved Savannah. My first day on campus is when I knew I had made the right decision.
What is your favorite place on campus and why?
My favorite place on campus is the Student Union it’s literally the heart of the campus! It’s such a great way to network. I enjoy interacting with students, and collaborating with other organizations for events. I love catching up with friends and just being in the mix!
As a new student, what was your favorite part of the SOAR program?
My favorite part was the tour. It really gave me insight on how to navigate my way through campus. I got the chance to learn where all the colleges were located.
What is the most important piece of advice you would give to incoming students?
Get involved. This is YOUR college experience! It’s important to make it memorable. Interact. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone there is an organization for everyone! You’re here to do and be great. Believe in yourself and stay focused!
What is your favorite memory or experience at Georgia Southern thus far?
My favorite memory since arriving on campus is definitely “Pie a SOAR Leader”. It was so much fun!! I had never been a participant in this type of event so I was super pumped and nervous all at once, it was great! I ended up meeting so many students and everyone was so friendly, I would definitely do it again!
I wore heels to my high school graduation (I can’t walk in heels) and as I was walking across the stage to accept my diploma, it looked like I was tip toeing like the Grinch to the floor it was so embarrassing!
