SOAR Info

All students are required to attend a SOAR session prior to enrolling in classes*. SOAR sessions are led by current Georgia Southern students who will be a great resource for you to ask questions of and show you what it means to be a Georgia Southern student! You will also be able to meet with your academic advisor, who will advise you on which classes have been selected for your first semester.

*excludes Dual Enrollment, for whom in-person SOAR sessions are optional

SOAR Reservation & Confirmation


SOAR Reservation Process:

To make a reservation please click the “Register” button above and log-in to your Admissions Status Check Page to access our SOAR registration system.

  • Enter your last name, date of birth, and the last four digits of your Eagle ID or Social Security number. Click the “Check Status” button.
  • In the Orientation tab, click on the “SOAR Online Reservation Form” link.
  • Follow the instructions by selecting a SOAR session and completing your reservation with a credit card payment.
  • If you have any questions during the reservation process, call 912.478.7627 or email orientation@georgiasouthern.edu.

Accessing your SOAR Confirmation Letter:

  • After reserving your SOAR session, return to the Admissions Status Check page.
  • Enter your last name, date of birth, and the last four digits of your Eagle ID or Social Security number. Click the “Check Status” button.
  • In the Orientation Information tab, click on the “Review/Edit My Reservation” link.  View the receipt.

Where to Stay in Statesboro

Two-Day SOAR Sessions

Students: You will stay on campus in Centennial Place Residence Hall for the night of SOAR. Payment for one night of student housing is included in your student SOAR fee. Residence hall check-in is between 10 a.m. and noon on Day One of SOAR.

Eagle Success Program Students: You may apply online for on-campus housing for the Summer term by going to www.gsuhousing.com. Move-In Day for the Eagle Success Program is Thursday, June 20th. You will be able to check in at the Russell Student Union to get your room keys and necessary paperwork.

  • If you are not living on campus during ES, and you would like to stay in a residence hall for the night of June 15th (SOAR), please contact University Housing to arrange your overnight stay. This cost is included in your SOAR fee.

COVID-19 Update: The Eagle Success Program has been suspended for the summer 2020 term. Applicants who were admitted to Eagle Success will be re-evaluated for the fall 2020 term. 

Family Members/Guests:  The Family/Guest Fee does not include overnight accommodations for guests. If you need overnight accommodations, you may contact the Statesboro Convention & Visitors Bureau online or by phone at (912) 259-9555.


One-Day SOAR Sessions

Students & Guests: If you are a student or guest attending a single-day SOAR session and need overnight accommodations please visit  the Statesboro Convention & Visitors Bureau online or contact them by phone at (912) 259-9555 for lodging information available off-campus. The SOAR program will be from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m and on-campus housing is not available.

Where to Stay in Savannah

Two-Day SOAR Sessions

Students: You will stay on campus in Winward Commons for the night of SOAR. Payment for one night of student housing is included in your student SOAR fee*. Residence hall check-in is between 10 a.m. and noon on Day One of SOAR.

Guests: Your SOAR fee does NOT include on-campus housing. See VisitSavannah.com for lodging information, special offers and to book accommodations.

*Students attending SOAR on August 15-16 will not be able to stay on-campus overnight unless they plan to move into their fall assignment on August 14. There is a small fee associated with early move-in,

One-Day SOAR Sessions

Students & Guests: If you are a student or guest attending a single-day SOAR session and need overnight accommodations, you may contact the Savannah Visitor Information Center online or call their toll-free lodging reservation line at 1-800-568-3301 for lodging information available off-campus. The SOAR program will be from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m and on-campus housing is not available.

What to Bring

  • Lots of energy! Our program is power-packed with information, fun, and spirit! Be ready to SOAR!
  • A list of questions that we may answer. We have outstanding administration, faculty, and staff to assist you.
  • Comfortable shoes and clothes
  • An umbrella and a jacket (we have great air conditioning!)
  • Pen and paper (be prepared to learn a lot)
  • A copy of your transfer credit evaluation, if you have credit from another institution
  • A government issued photo ID (such as a drivers license)
  • If you are attending a two-day SOAR session, you will also need to bring a set of twin-sized sheets (extra long preferred or full size), a pillow, a blanket, towels, toiletries, and an alarm clock.
