Register for SOAR 2020

All students are required to attend SOAR prior to enrolling in classes. Please select your campus to learn more about your requirements and session options.

NOTE: Readmit, transient, auditor, and post-baccalaureate students do not have a SOAR requirement. If you are a new dual enrollment student, click here for your next steps.

Statesboro Campus

SOAR Session Dates & Times

Students are required to attend a SOAR session, in its entirety, to receive and retain a course schedule.

*Full term & Minimester I courses begin on January 9, 2023.
*Minimester II courses begin on March 6, 2023.

Registration for Spring 2023 Minimester 2 is Now Open! All students entering for Spring Minimester should attend SOAR at the date and time listed below.

  • Thursday, March 2nd – 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. (Virtual)

SOAR Registration Fees

  • Student – $35
  • Guest – Free

Follow these instructions to register for your session:

  1. Log into My.GeorgiaSouthern.edu. If you have never accessed your MyGeorgiaSouthern account, please click “First Time User” to register before being able to log in.
  2. Click SOAR on the New Student Resources tile, then follow the instructions to register and pay for your session.

Fully Online Programs

Your SOAR Commitment

Students that have been admitted into fully online programs demonstrate to Georgia Southern an intent to enroll by registering for SOAR. This date of this SOAR session is set to the first day of classes; however students in fully online programs do not attend a formal SOAR event. Once you register, your academic advisement team will be notified and inform you of next steps specific to your program. There is no fee to register for SOAR.

Follow these instructions to commit to Georgia Southern:

  1. Log into My.GeorgiaSouthern.edu. If you have never accessed your MyGeorgiaSouthern account, please click “First Time User” to register before being able to log in.
  2. Click SOAR on the New Student Resources tile, then follow the instructions to commit to Georgia Southern.

  • Complete your commitment to Georgia Southern by officially registering for the fully online programs SOAR through your Admissions Status Check Page on the orientation tab. Remember, there is no formal event, and this is just dated as the first day of classes.
  • Complete “New Student Pre-Flight Modules” in the New Student Resources section of MyGeorgiaSouthern portal. All modules are required. You do not have to complete it all at once – you can pause your progress, and your information will be saved, allowing you to return at any time.
  • Submit the FAFSA – If you want to be considered for federal or state student aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
  • Engage with your academic advisor! After you commit to Georgia Southern through your SOAR reservation, keep an eye out for an email from your program/academic advisor to discuss next steps relevant to your program of study.
