Why did you choose Georgia Southern?
I chose Georgia Southern because before I was even accepted, I already felt like the university was so invested in me as a student. I didn’t feel like a number or that I would get lost in the admissions process. Every time I called and asked about my application, they knew exactly who I was! I truly felt like Southern wanted me here and that they thought I would add value to the university.
What is your favorite place on campus and why?
There are so many nooks and crannies that I walk through or past on campus that are like a breath of fresh air, especially during the spring, when all of the dogwoods and azaleas are blooming!
As a new student, what was your favorite part of the SOAR program?
I really enjoyed the break out programs and I will always remember when I was eating lunch during the session and I ran into my friend that was taking summer classes at the time. He sat down and ate lunch with me. I loved that Southern still felt like a big university, but it was still small enough to run into my friend and have a surprise lunch with him!
What advice would you give incoming students?
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes! The time to learn more about yourself and a little more about life is NOW! You will make mistakes, what’s important is how you handle and bounce back from them.
What is your favorite memory or experience at Georgia Southern thus far?
Reaffiliating with my sorority has been an amazing experience. I transferred into this chapter and I was so scared that I wouldn’t make friends. But it has become so much more than I ever thought it would be! They have given me the confidence to do things I never thought I would do (like run for our executive committee!!) and I have made the best friends in this chapter.
I am REALLY obsessed with dachshunds. I probably follow at least 15 dachshund dedicated accounts on Instagram.
