Your Commitment

Students that have been admitted into fully online programs demonstrate to Georgia Southern an intent to enroll by registering for SOAR. The date of this SOAR session is set to the first day of classes; however, students in fully online programs do not attend a formal SOAR event. Once you register, your academic advisement team will be notified and inform you of the next steps specific to your program. There is no fee to register for SOAR.

Important additional instructions for fully online students
  • Complete your commitment to Georgia Southern by officially registering for the fully online programs SOAR through your My.GeorgiaSouthern.edu portal. Remember, there is no formal event and this is just dated as the first day of classes.
  • Complete Course Preference Form. This course must be completed to receive a class schedule. Once available, more information will be emailed to students with a SOAR commitment in the system.
  • Submit the FAFSA – If you want to be considered for federal or state student aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
  • Engage with your academic advisor! After you have committed to Georgia Southern through the SOAR portal and completed the pre-advisement course, keep an eye out for an email from your program/academic advisor to discuss next steps relevant to your program of study.
