I chose Georgia Southern because I wanted to enjoy the college experience while still operating in the “country” atmosphere just like my hometown. It feels like home to me here.

My favorite thing about Georgia Southern is the diversity and the southern feel. I love the fact that I am able to make new friends with different backgrounds from all over the country.

Madison Smith

Hometown: Fitzgerald, GA

Transferred from: Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College

Major: Business-Finance

I chose Georgia Southern because my mother graduated from Georgia Southern with a business degree I find peace of mind that she went to school here and when I came to visit the campus it really felt like a home away from home. I have been craving that feeling since I graduated high school and I’m so glad that I found it.

Like many students here at Georgia Southern, my favorite thing is the big school with a small feel aspect. I feel like a person here, not a number. Everyone has been so helpful and I couldn’t be more grateful.

After graduation, I plan to return to my small hometown of Fitzgerald and pursue a career in banking. I have worked at my local Community Bank of Fitzgerald and found real joy in helping people financially.

Alea Simmons

Hometown: Bainbridge, GA

Transferred from: Bainbridge College

Major: Business-Entrepreneurship

Minor: Biology

I chose Georgia Southern because I wanted to go to a university where I knew I could grow exponentially and thrive in an environment built for excellence.

My favorite thing about Georgia Southern is the willingness of the faculty and staff to help students achieve their goals. The mentors that I have gained thus far have all been nothing but encouraging in helping me reach my ultimate potential.

One of my favorite professors said on the first day of class that “”college is like a buffet: you go and pick and choose what you like. Try out a little bit of everything and then go back and get more of what you liked.

My plans after graduation are to attend Florida State University’s Medical School and pursue my ultimate goal of becoming an Invasive Cardiologist. I also hope to own my own practice, hence the business degree in management.
