College Office of Undergraduate Research

The College Office of Undergraduate Research (COUR) in the College of Science and Mathematics at Georgia Southern University is an initiative to further the undergraduate research experience in COSM. COUR’s objectives are:

  • Support and enhance existing faculty-undergraduate research.
  • Facilitate the creation and support of new faculty-undergraduate research initiatives.
  • Showcase faculty-undergraduate research.

Georgia Southern COSM REU Sites

CollaborativE Multidisciplinary Investigations Through Undergraduate Research Experiences (CEMITURE), NSF-REU

The Georgia Southern University Chemistry Department has been awarded a $270,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to engage undergraduate students in collaborative and multidisciplinary projects using analytical, material, organic, and bio-chemistry. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a 10-week collaborative research project. Visit the website for more information.

Interdisciplinary Research Experiences in Coastal Plain Science

Study the potential impacts of global climate change stressors on organisms and ecosystems of the Atlantic Coastal Plain by participating in research experiences with faculty from the Institute for Coastal Plain Science (ICPS). The Georgia Southern University ICPS REU program in Coastal Plain Science is a summer research program supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Our program is an exciting opportunity for 10 undergraduate students to be awarded fellowships to actively engage in a 10 week interdisciplinary research experience. Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program

The McNair Scholars Program is a federal TRIO program funded at 151 institutions across the United States and Puerto Rico by the U.S. Department of Education. It is designed to prepare undergraduate students for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities.
